Royal Garden Party – 8 May 24

On Wednesday 8 May, The Immediate Past Master, Liz Bardolph, and her guest Founder and Past Master, Fran Davies, attended the Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace.

Liz was very pleased to attend following the successful petition to become a Company with Livery during her year as Master. Indeed, all Livery Companies are invited because of their cumulative charitable giving, an estimated £75 million per annum.

It was a perfect sunny afternoon for a Garden Party.  The King, despite his health problems, looked well and engaged with many of the guests. Both Fran and Liz were privileged to meet him, shake his hand, and exchange a few words. The Queen, the Princess Royal, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester were also present.

After an excellent light afternoon tea Liz and Fran mingled with the hundreds of other guests, also meeting with the Master Vintner and his wife.

It was a happy, relaxed, and memorable afternoon.
