The Company of Nurses Charitable Trust has received a very generous donation from The Luton and Dunstable Hospital Nurses’ League. This League has taken the decision to close following changes in nurse education, falling membership and inability to recruit new members. The affiliation of student nurses has shifted from a specific training hospital to a university.
In such circumstances, The Company of Nurses Charitable Trust is able to offer a safe repository for residual funds, safeguarding them, ringfenced for their original purpose and kept safe within nursing for years to come. Trust benefactors will be remembered in perpetuity enabling League names to live on.

Liz Bonner FRCN, Treasurer said “The L&D Nurses League has served its members for 35 years and is delighted to hand the baton on to the Company of Nurses Charitable Trust”.

Janet Graham MBE, Chair said “All the best for the future of the Worshipful Company of Nurses and I know the money is in good hands”.

The Company of Nurses Charitable Trust is honoured to be entrusted with responsibility for ensuring that such funds are used to further nurses’ professional development or to support nurses in time of need. We are happy to discuss with any nursing organisations or individuals who wish to consider this option to preserve funds within our profession.
