The Company of Nurses Freedom Ceremony Monday 5th October 2020
During the Court Meeting of the Company of Nurses on Monday 5th October, the Rt Revd and Rt Hon Dame Sarah Mullally, Bishop of London, was welcomed as the Company’s third Honorary Freeman.
On the same evening, following the Annual Assembly, our newly installed Master Frances Davies presided over her first Freedom Ceremony. As in July, this was held virtually to comply with Covid restrictions which prevented us meeting in person.
12 members were granted the Freedom after making individual declarations to the Company of Nurses. These declarations were made in front of the Master, Wardens, and Court Assistants and were able to be viewed by friends and family, all from the comfort of people’s homes. The Master made an informative welcoming speech to the new Freemen and the evening finished with a toast to the Company of Nurses. We are planning to hold an event as soon as we can, so that all those Freemen who have been admitted to the Company during lockdown can come together - to shake the Master’s hand, meet the Wardens and Court Assistants and be welcomed in person.
