Prize Giving Nursing Awards Ceremony at City and St Georges University – 21 July 2026
The Master, accompanied by Julia Mingay who was representing the Worshipful Company of Nurses Charity, joined the City and St George’s University Awards ceremony to present the Worshipful Company of Nurses Charity Awards. These were received by three nurses for their outstanding academic achievement of their final dissertation in their programme of study.
One award was won by a student studying for a post-graduate Master’s degree, for her qualitative study to understand the emotional response of ward nurses to patients in their care, when their condition was deteriorating. The study was motivated by her observations of the impact on nurses working on general medical and surgical wards, in her role as a critical care outreach nurse.
Two awards were received by nursing undergraduates. The impact of play therapy for children diagnosed with autism was explored by a student who graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Children’s Nursing. The other award was granted to a graduate of Mental Health Nursing, who investigated the experience of clinical nurses who reported clinical and medical errors.
All three award winners will be presenting their dissertation to the Company, and each expressed their appreciation and gratitude to the WCoN for their awards.
