Military Affiliation Day – Tue 2 Dec 2025

After an introduction by Master General Tim Hodgett, we had an informative talk on how the army are now training medics to a NATO standard in order to work in austere conditions across the globe supporting frontline troops. It was insightful to learn of the critical role of medics operating within small units in special forces.
The recruitment team then shared their strategies for recruiting new medics, vets, dentists, nurses, healthcare assistants and allied professionals. They are a small group of just six people, and they are leveraging “Instagram” to reach a wider audience. They visit universities and school careers fairs showcasing life within the Royal Army Medical Service. They were keen to demonstrate their latest Visual Reality (VR) headsets, interactive anatomical models and high-tech portable screens.

Col Helen Winder, Chief Nurse (Army) outlined key successes of the first year since amalgamation of the medical, dental and nursing services.
The day concluded with an award ceremony celebrating several members for their exceptional service and innovation.
The day was interesting and informative, and we were delighted to have been invited.

Military Liaison Officer, Deirdre Barr and Liveryman, Emma Hammett.
