Lord Mayor’s Show – Sat 12 Nov 22
The Company of Nurses were delighted to be able to walk in this years Lord Mayors Show and to represent the nursing profession.
Two Freemen, Gary Jones and Jane Burch were able to join the Master, Julia Mingay. The Company of Nurses walked alongside some 30 Modern Livery Companies, those being formed since 1929 and were followed by a London Routemaster bus. The Modern Liveries group were near the beginning of the procession being 37th out of the 133 floats in the running order.
Jane reports that "The weather was gloriously warm and sunny and the whole event was joyous, very colourful and noisy. We were encouraged along the whole three mile route by large crowds cheering the nursing profession and we were able to recognise fantastic support from familiar fellow Freemen of the Company along the way. It was lovely to see lots of young people in the crowds including Girl Guides, Scouts and school children all looking as though they were having a great time.
We were particularly privileged to witness the new Lord Mayor Nicholas Lyons being officially installed as Lord Mayor of the City of London in the Silent Ceremony at Guildhall the day before." The Master and the Company of Nurses wishes the Lord Mayor all the very best for a successful year ahead.
