Legal Haunts City Walk – Sat 25 Oct 2025
In October, members of the Company met up for a guided walk around the Temple area of London with Blue Badge Guide, Mo Corcoran.
The area was originally the headquarters of the Knights Templar, a military order that built the Temple Church in the 12th century.
When the order of the Knights Templar was dissolved in 1312 the area was taken over by lawyers and by the 17th century, it had become the centre of the English Legal Profession which continues today. The Inner and Middle Temple areas contain many Barrister Chambers and are conveniently located near to the Royal Courts of Justice.
During our walk Mo informed us of many interesting historical events that have taken place in the area as well as stories about Charles Dickens who based some of his novels in the Inns of Court and around the Temple area.
Everyone enjoyed the walk and the opportunity to learn about the history of this area at the same time as having a chat with each other as we walked.
