Intentional Spiritual Care:Parish Nursing in the UK Today-17 Jun 2026

Liverymen, Freemen, and guests joined the Worshipful Company of Nurses both in person at IT Hall and online for an engaging education event exploring Intentional Spiritual Care: Parish Nursing in the UK Today.

The event was introduced by Diane Drain, who welcomed attendees and introduced the speaker, Anne Taylor, Director of Nursing at Parish Nursing Ministries UK.

Drawing on examples from across the country, Anne highlighted the diverse role of parish nursing, from supporting mental health, end-of-life care and care home residents to leading innovative community projects. She emphasised the importance of clear governance, professional standards and defining a service that reflects both community need and the vision of the host church.

Anne also explored how parish nursing can help retain experienced nurses by providing opportunities to remain in or return to practice in a relationship-centred model of care. The presentation generated lively discussion on sustainability, workforce, professional support and the place of spiritual care in contemporary nursing.

The event was extremely well received, with positive feedback from attendees. Anne has kindly shared her presentation slides, photographs from the evening are available, and the recording is being edited for future educational use.

The Worshipful Company of Nurses extends its sincere thanks to Anne Taylor for sharing her expertise and inspiring insights into this compassionate model of nursing practice.
