Freedom and Livery Ceremonies – Wed 7 Feb 2024

On Wednesday 7 February, the Worshipful Company of Nurses held a Freedom ceremony in the Court Room at Information Technologists’ Hall.

We were able to welcome fifteen applicants who made their declarations and were granted Freedom of the Company. We were delighted that within this number, there was a mother and daughter, both being installed as Freemen at the same time.

This was closely followed by seven of our existing Freemen being clothed in Livery by the Master to become Liverymen.  Congratulations to all our new Freemen and Liverymen.

Additionally at this ceremony the Master bestowed the title of Honorary Freeman to Col. Stephen Oxlade, the Company’s webmaster. Stephen has supported us from the very early days of the Guild. He has worked tirelessly to run our website and co-ordinate communications. Initially this was for no remuneration and nowadays for not much more! We are forever thankful for his contribution to the Company over the years.

Following the ceremony, a buffet lunch was served. The Master, Wardens, Court Assistants, new Freemen, new Liverymen, friends and family were able to celebrate and engage with one another.

Members of the Company will be able to view the photographs of the day in the Gallery in the log in section of the website.
