12 of us braved Storm Doris to have a very enjoyable visit to the Florence Nightingale Museum at St Thomas’ Hospital on 23rd February.
Over a hot drink we had a very engaging talk by Natasha McEnroe, Museum Director. Natasha gave us a fascinating overview of the long life and many achievements of Florence Nightingale.
We then looked around the museum which illustrated and built on Natasha's talk. The museum is divided into three pavilions covering her early privileged, but stifled, life then The Crimean War and finally Florence as a reformer and campaigner. There was also an exhibition on Victorian beards.
Most of us finished with a visit to the museum shop which had some unique and funny nursing merchandise.
