Company Dinner, Cutlers’ Hall – Thur 23 Nov 22
On Thursday 23 November the Company of Nurses were delighted to hold a dinner at the splendid Cutler's Hall. We were very pleased to welcome over 100 Freemen and their guests. Guests of the Company included Captain Robin Batt, Master of the Master Mariners, Dr James Nye, Master Clockmaker, Stephen Sanders, Master Firefighter, their accompanying Clerks and Lt Col Sharon Stewart ARRC, Commanding Officer MOSG 2nd Medical Brigade. The principal guest speaker was Mr John Orchard, CEO of the Cavell Trust.
The atmosphere at the dinner was excellent with plenty of laughter and chat. The Honorary Chaplain, Revd Canon Charles Pickstone said Grace, and as is our tradition, we passed the Lamp after dinner symbolising the unity and friendship among us.
We enjoyed an interesting, entertaining and moving speech from John Orchard who praised the Company for sharing the ethos and aims of the Cavell Trust in helping nurses in need. He gave some pertinent and poignant examples of benevolence that the Company of Nurses Charitable Trust along with the Cavell Trust were able to respond to. John led the toast to the Master and the Company of Nurses, may they flourish root and branch.
