Common Hall – Wed 24 June 2026

Liverymen from across the Livery came together yesterday at Common Hall, Guildhall: the twice yearly election assembly for the City of London. The midsummer Common Hall takes place to elect the two Sheriffs for the ensuing year along with the other ancient City of London positions of Bridge Masters and Ale Conners.

The Master, Christine Anderson processed in to Guildhall, with the Masters of the Communicators’ and Entrepreneurs’ Companies at the head of the procession which included City of London officials, the Aldermen, Sheriffs and the Lady Mayor.

Two Aldermen were elected as Sheriffs this year and we congratulate Alderman Prem Goyal CBE and Alderman The Hon. Tim Levene.

A report of the Livery Committee was read before the meeting concluded.

Around twenty Liverymen from the Company braved the heatwave and attended Common Hall and a friendly lunch with other Livery Companies at Innholders' Hall afterwards.
