Common Hall and Armed Forces Flag Raising

On 24 June 2024, Common Hall brought together Liverymen from all Livery Companies for the annual election of the City Sheriffs.  The Master of The Worshipful Company of Nurses, Jane Carey-Harris, was honoured to lead the procession of Masters, as The City of London Corporation graciously allowed her to process as Master, being a Liveryman of another Company.  Liverymen from the Worshipful Company of Nurses entered onto the electoral roll in May 2024 will be able to attend and participate in future elections from 2025.

The newly elected Sheriffs reminded all those gathered of the common purpose of Charity and upholding the Rule of Law.

Following the election, The Master and 21 Freemen and Liverymen of the Company joined with other Livery Companies for a lunch at Stationers’ Hall.

Later that afternoon, the Master attended a ceremony at Guildhall where the Armed Forces’ flag was raised. This was held during a week of events across the country ahead of Armed Forces’ Day on Saturday 26 June to give thanks to all those who serve in the military.

The election of The Lord Mayor will be 30 September 2024 and Liverymen and Freemen of the Company will be able to attend a luncheon with the Master following the election.
