City Walk: Women, War, and the Wonders of Waterloo Walk – Sun 21 Mar 2026

On a sunny March day members of the Company met up for a guided walk around the Waterloo area of London with Blue Badge Guide, Mo Corcoran.

During our walk Mo informed us of the history of the area including the King George Military Hospital which opened during World War One in a building designed for H.M. Stationery Office The hospital closed in 1919 having cared for 71,000 injured soldiers and the building is now part of Kings College. We then passed by the Crucifix outside St John’s Church which had been donated by the Nursing Staff of the Military Hospital in honour of the patients who had died in the hospital. As we continued our walk we learnt more really interesting history and facts about the area, before finishing at St Thomas Hospital. An enjoyable walk with  also time to chat!
