Cavell Nurses’ Trust Awards Ceremony – 18 May 2016

The Guild of Nurses was honoured to be invited to attend the Cavell Nurses’ Trust Awards Ceremony at the invitation of the board of trustees on the 18^th May 2016 in the Grand Connaught Rooms in the presence of the Belgium Ambassador. This was a splendid occasion in beautiful surroundings to congratulate and award excellence in nursing and midwifery. Recipients included student nurses and midwives and those  currently working in both those fields.

The Cavell Nurses Trust was formed in memory of Edith Cavell, a nurse, working in Belgium until 1916. It provides financial support to nurses in need. For the last five years, together with its sponsors, it has also been able to make these awards. I felt privileged to be among so many eminent leaders in the field of nursing and midwifery and to help celebrate the success of so many nursing students and practitioners. I am grateful to the trust for the invitation.
