Anniversary Banquet – Wed 7 May 2025

The Anniversary Banquet was held this year in the beautiful venue of Merchant Taylors’ Hall. The hall houses the only working organ in any of the Livery Halls in the City.  Guests on the evening were able to enjoy the magnificent playing of the organ by our Sponsoring Alderman, Sir Andrew Parmley.

Immediately prior to the dinner, the new Master Hilary Andrews, was installed by the outgoing Master, Jane Carey-Harris.

Following the sung grace, the traditional Passing of the Lamp took place to symbolise unity, trust and fellowship and the care given by members of the nursing profession.

Middle Warden David Bates proposed the toast to the guests of the Company who included: James Talbot, Master of the Worshipful Company of Entrepreneurs, David Miller, Master of the Worshipful Company of Pattenmakers, and the Clerks of both the Entrepreneurs and Pattenmakers.  Ms Laura Sharpe, CEO of the Nightingale Museum, was the guest of The Charitable Trust. The Master’s personal guests included her family, and friends from her nursing career.

The principal guest was Dr Anton van Dellen, Barrister and HM Assistant Coroner in West London. Anton enlightened guests during his speech regarding the workings of the Coroner’s Office.

The new Master replied, giving thanks to Jane Carey-Harris for her year in office presenting her with a gift from the Court. The Master also thanked Martin Whitehead who has been the Company’s Honorary Beadle for the last 9 years.
