A busy week for Master – Christine Anderson

After attending Common Hall, Guildhall and lunch afterwards at Innholders’ Hall with 20 other members of the Company, the Master and Military Liaison Officer, Deridre Barr, attended the Armed Forces Flag Raising Ceremony also at Guildhall. Due to the heat this event was held inside where the Lady Mayor inspected the guard of honour. The actual flag was raised outside.

In the evening the Master and Consort attended the 125th Anniversary of The Submarine Service at Mansion House. There were talks from serving officers and the Royal Marines marching band played. There was a spectacular cake - it was especially relevant to The Worshipful Company of Nurses to be represented as we have formed an affiliation with Naval Nurses this year. On Thursday night the Master attended the Centenary of the Master Mariners at Guildhall. This was hosted by the current Master, the Duke of Edinburgh, and both he and the previous Master, Princess Anne, gave amusing and interesting speeches. The food was prepared by The Clink catering initiative which teaches prisoners how to work and cook in the catering industry. It has been a privilege to represent the Company this week
